| Long-term care can be defined as therapeutic, rehabilitative, maintenance or personal care services, delivered in a setting other than a hospital. Long term-care is for persons needing assistance with the ordinary activities of daily living because of functional impairments, or for persons needing assistance or supervision due to a cognitive impairment. |
| Care is provided by nurses, therapists, home health aides and other skilled and unskilled caregivers. Long-term care is not provided by doctors, surgeons, chiropractors or other medical professionals whose services are normally covered by medical expense insurance. |
